If your a learner driver, Mum or Dad and reading this and you're feeling nervous or apprehensive about either learning to drive or  teaching your child to drive then it's entirely understandable.

I personally through in the towel after 2 attempts of teaching my wife to drive, I simply did not know what to do or where to start. I made her upset and myself nervous, VERY nervous!

Fast forward nearly 10 years later and I'm a driving instructor with a 96% pass rate of helping young drivers pass their Ps on the first try(100% pass rate on everyone who has used my vehicle, and I'm REALLY selective who I let use my car on the day of the test:-)

Prior to me taking my driving test which I had to do before I was allowed to submit an application to become a driving instructor I went out with a friend who had been an instructor for 18 years, I couldn't believe all the little  "wrong" things I was doing some by themselves would have got me an instant fail!

That's how the "Complete P Plate Pass Kit" came about.

The new road rules that state you MUST "indicate LEFT out of a roundabout at the point of exit if you're doing a right hand hand turn or a full turn ( the only people I see doing that are other driving instructors!) While not compulsory going STRAIGHT through a roundabout it is advisable to indicate left when exiting.
 

How NOT To Fail The Test Before You've Even Gotten Into Your Car

I have literally been out in the Blacktown RTA car park after showing one of my students how to go in and "prepare " their test, ( I am a stickler for the so called small details and I'll explain why shortly) when the "assessor" was about to take a learner driver out on their test.

What you MUST do BEFORE you go to the RTA- How to properly prepare so you're calm and feeling confident on the day. Forget about some "nasty" assessor  at a certain RTA being "Out to get" learner drivers, or fail them on the first time IF you follow what's in the kit you won't have to worry about that

What to look for in a professional driving instructor-they are NOT all created equal! You'll know whether you should go back after paying for that first lesson-(hint NEVER pay for a "multi lesson" pack without doing these things)

How to correctly do a reverse parallel park in 3 moves. This manoeuvre is one that can be quite tricky to novice drivers, I can teach someone with virtually NO driving experience how to "nail" this first time, same with a 3 point turn.

The one thing that will make you a better driver, without even sitting behind the wheel. Lots of this will mean you'll shorten your learning curve while understanding the consequences of other peoples "bad" driving!
